Message-market fit outbound glossary GLOSSARY

Definition. The point at which an outbound message reliably gets the right stranger to reply with interest. It is found by testing ICP, sourcing, front-end offer, angle and channel in order, and it is the asset a client keeps after any outbound engagement ends.

The five checks

Message-market fit is not copywriting. In algoacquisition's method it is found by testing five things in order, each only if the previous one holds: the right ICP (company size, location, industry, seniority), the right sourcing (live signals over static lists), the right front-end offer (the thing that turns a stranger into a lead, aligned with the paid offer), the best angle to lead with, and the right channel.

Why it takes a month

Month one of any outbound engagement is spent finding it. Angles are tested, reply rates are read, the ICP is tightened. By month three the message is tuned and the campaign is simply left to run. This is why serious programmes are sold by the quarter and why a monthly trial mostly measures the learning phase.

The number behind it

The difference between a campaign with message-market fit and one without, in algoacquisition's data, is the difference between one interested reply per 21 contacts and one per 300. The message, once found, is the client's to keep forever.

  • Interested lead — A reply from a person at a company matching the agreed ICP that expresses intent to learn more, see pricing, receive information or book a call. Connection accepts, opens and polite declines do not count.
  • Trigger-based prospecting — Contacting prospects only when a live signal indicates the problem you solve is current, such as a new hire in the role you sell to, a fresh funding round, a job post for the function you replace, or a recent filing, rather than working through a static list.
  • Connection acceptance rate — The share of LinkedIn connection requests that are accepted. Across 163,868 requests in algoacquisition's 2026 campaign data the average was 19.8%; campaigns with a single, tightly defined segment ran at 30–39%.
